My name is Ms Dolan and I am the SENCo here in St. Joseph’s Grammar/ Scoil Iósaef. It is my privilege to work with staff in school to help meet the learning needs of all our pupils. As SENCo in school my role is:
- To actively lead and coordinate our Learning Support provision.
- To act as a valuable point of contact for pupils, parents, teaching staff, non-teaching staff and outside support services in relation to Learning Support in Donaghmore.
- To enable children to meet their full potential by removing any barriers or potential barriers on their learning journey.
- To willingly monitor and evaluate SEN provision, identifying and promoting best practice.
In Donaghmore, we have an excellent team of Learning Support Assistants who go above and beyond to help nurture the children in their care as well as providing ad hoc support to other students who may be struggling. As a staff, we are very pastoral and place the needs of the pupils at the centre of everything we do. At present students can avail of “The Nest” (a safe and relaxing environment) and “Headspace” if they need somewhere to help avoid the noise at break and lunch.
It is an honour to have been entrusted with this vital role in school and I can assure you that we do our utmost to help all the children in our care and we hope you choose to join our ever-growing Donaghmore family.
